North Ridge received the HIGHEST API Score in Moreno Valley School District!!!

Principal's Message

Dear North Ridge Families,

Welcome to the 2013-2014 School Year!  The entire North Ridge Magnet School Community appreciates you for visiting our website. We are extremely proud of our magnet school and the many opportunities we provide for students to excel.  I am excited to begin my third year at North Ridge Magnet School!

This year, our focus at North Ridge is twofold:  Transitioning to the Common Core State Standards and STEM education:  Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  The integration of these is critical in preparing our students for their future college and careers.  Study after study has shown that our students are not achieving in these subjects at a level comparable to the students in other parts of the world.  Without a first class education in math, technology, and sciences, American students face a difficult future and dramatically lower standard of living as adults.  The staff at NorthRidge believes that Common Core and STEM offer a creative solution and are committed to infusing these throughout the curriculum.  We will be looking for parents in the community to bring in their expertise in these STEM areas to share with our students.

In addition, North Ridge continues to emphasize the Six Pillars of Character:  Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. These will enable all of us to instill these traits upon our students and assist them to become kind and productive citizens in our community.

As well our exceptional staff, North Ridge has outstanding parents, an active PTA, Booster Club, and ELAC. These groups provide a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities for our students to excel and learn beyond the regular school day. Family events such as Salsa and Harvest Festival, Rocket and Astronomy Night are just a few exciting activities that have become traditions at North Ridge. We encourage you to become involved in North Ridge this year, through PTA, Booster, ELAC, or as a volunteer or chaperone. Parent involvement truly makes the difference for our students!

Finally, as a reminder, please drive safely when dropping off and picking up your child. Obey all school and traffic rules, and only park in designated areas in the front of the school. Please exercise patience, common sense as the safety of our students is our top priority.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children as we look forward to a wonderful 2013-2014 at North Ridge Magnet School. I look forward to meeting you and if you have concerns at any time, please feel free to call me.

A VISION FOR
STEM EDUCATION:

Sincerely,
Carol Peardon
